Stepping into the Simeonulator
What happens when a football club takes its identity from Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid? I guess I'm about to find out.
As the keener-eyed among you may already have noted, my start to this season hasn’t exactly gone according to plan. The bold statement that I made was that this season was to be all about London and its environs. But that… has not yet happened. The opening weekend of the season brought the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup and Fisher FC, the football club that offers Canary Wharf as a backdrop. An excellent start to the season.
But since then have come escalating issues. Last weekend was always going to be difficult. We had a 50th birthday party in the evening to which I’d made a firm commitment. When those commitments are a long way away it can be easy to set them to one side, but the decision had been made. I’d shot for St Albans City vs Maidstone United in the National League South, but that ended up not happening. Time just got too compressed.
