The Remaster: 100 Owners, Number 96 - Terry Smith (Chester City)
Now the owner of the Wikipedia page most obviously edited by its subject, Terry Smith tried to apply the laws of gridiron to soccer, with predictable results.
There are several clubs which will turn up more than once on this list, and one of those is Chester City FC. The story of this particular clubs last twenty years is one that could fill a book on its own, but its demise can largely be traced to the activities of three men.
One, Stephen Vaughan, ended up banned under the FAs Fit & Proper Persons rules over fraud at a rugby league club. The second wass Mark Guterman, another man who warrants a chapter of his own in this particular series. The third is a man from the United States of America whose two years in charge of the club left it without a place in the Football League for the first time since 1931. Terry Smith.
