On this week's You Couldn't Script It, Edward and Ian both watched the hit 2002 culture clash comedy Bend It Like Beckham and had a jolly good time of it, all things considered.
Having watched a spectacular mountain of old toot thus far, the fact that the past two weeks has brought them nothing but sweet respite has obviously started playing with their (by now thoroughly tenderised) brains and your heroes spend very little time discussing the film at all. Instead, they focussed on the wider cultural impact of this film in particular and the vertiginous growth of the women's game in general.
What followed was a pot pourri of personal reminiscences, hard facts and a variety of fingers being pointed in all sorts of directions, demanding that the game do better still.
Should all of these lessons be learnt and their recommendations implemented, you'll know who to thank: two middle-aged white blokes.
