For the first time in the history of European football, two clubs have arrived for a major final in clown cars. Join me to pick through it and try and make sense of it all.
It's a general rule in sport that the ruthless and unsentimental one usually wins. In this case it would be Man United. I'm halfway between shocked at some of their withdrawals of staff privileges (not giving staff free tickets to cup finals) and astonished at the scale of non-football, non-essential spend that the Glazers seemed to accept and Brailsford/Radcliffe have scrapped. Well over a thousand non football employees? A £2m/yr salary for Sir Alex to, erm, attend matches and reprazent? Salaries for various other ex pros?
Now that Man U have scrapped that and pissed off the sentimental brigade, they'll obviously triumph over Ange The Nice Guy and his club who don't win trophies.
Various Celtic leaning group chats in Glasgow are enjoying this. Quite a few candles are still held for Big Ange here.
Ange told you, dude. He fucking told you, bro.
Congratulations !
We're at the Samantha Crain gig in Manchester and apparently one of her band is a Spurs fan and I'm considering shouting the score when they come on.
